七福神, Seven Deities

Shichifukujin 七福神 are known as the Japanese seven gods and goddesses for happiness.

Six deities out of seven came from India or China, and only one deity is the Japanese origin.  Meaning of each of the six deities changed a little after they came to Japan.

It's a popular route to visit shrines and temples that worship either of the Seven Deities.  Temple-fans will collect Goshuin (御朱印, sealed proof of worhip) of each place.

= Note =

Japanese deities are enshrined at shrines.  It's Buddha that is worshiped at temples.  Besides that base, some temples also worship the deities in their sub halls.
