Hanso bo (Kencho ji) 半僧坊 (建長寺)

  Hanso bo is an innermost hall in Kenchoji 建長寺 where one of the Ten- en Hiking Trail entrance is there.  We are required to pay admission fee even just going through the temple's grounds for the hiking trail.

  When entering Hanso bo from that hiking trail, we also need to pay the fee.
(Once we have paid at the main entrance, another payment is not needed when we get out at Hansobo for the viewing platform up stairs and back into Kenchoji again.)

  Koyo around Hansobo in Kenchoji began a little late than the other places this year.  Although maple had changed brownish due to the strong salty wind during the typhoons in October, bright red leaves came out nicely and still remain.

Dec. 05, 2017

 * The wood platform was removed after the typhoons.  Even so, we can come to this point for the panorama view from Kenchoji's Hanso bo hall as before.

as of Nov. 9th, 2017

== Access ==

The easiest way is to come from Kitakamakura station.

* Kitakamakura Sta. - R21 - Kenchoji Temple Gate - Hanso bo - Up-stairs to the viewing platform: 20-30 minute walk

* Ten-en Hiking Trails from the entrances near Kakuon ji 覚園寺 (40 min.),  Shishimai 獅子舞 (60 min.),  near Zuisen ji 瑞泉寺 (90 min.) to Hanso bo are also good for the autumn walk.

Dec. 14, 2017

  It's become good to see the various colors of maple in front of the temple gate recently, but they soon began scattering.  Other red leaves inside the gate seem to last a little longer.

  Besides those already-colored leaves, there are still fresh green leaves in the shade along the forested approach.  We hope they will make a nice tunnel of the autumn leaves later..
